Plumbing Projects
Hands-on repair, installation, and problem-solving work involving real systems, tools, and technical planning. All done under Remy Smith Plumbing and Heating, a small business located in Warren, RI.
Why Plumbing?
I know plumbing may seem like a weird thing to put on a computer science portfolio. I am a computer science major, and most of my work is in coding. But I am also a friend of the owner of the company, so I have had the chance to work on real plumbing projects.
Plumbing scratches the same part of my brain that engineering and coding do. It is systems thinking. Water has to move through a space correctly. Drains need slope. Vents need placement. Fixtures need support. One small mistake can create a problem somewhere else.
It also forces you to think ahead. You work in walls, floors, and tight spatial planes. You have to picture what will happen before the system is finished. You have to prevent leaks, blockages, noise, pressure issues, and future maintenance problems before they happen.
These projects belong here. They show how I think through physical systems. Enjoy some links to blog posts I’ve made about these projects below.
